Introduction to Length Units

Measuring the length of something is the first opportunity for students to learn that sometimes we have to count something comparatively. We will study the international and imperial units. You start by learning how to measure using centimeter rulers.

The next step is to measure using inches.

When you know the length unit value, it's not necessary to have the ruler numbered. Can you measure with an unnumbered ruler?

Another exercise is to calculate the length unit of the ruler.

You continue with some conversion between units of the same system.

We can express length as any unit we want, but it's better to use smaller units for small lengths and larger units for large lengths.

Let's close the chapter with word problems.

The total number of exercises in this chapter is 120.
